Year-Round Schooling
Year-round schooling is a method of education that involves a calendar system that redistributes the traditional summer vacation time into shorter breaks throughout the school year. The main goal of this approach is to improve the learners' retention of the knowledge taught, decrease the stress levels, and offer them with a more consistent interaction with the educational materials.
One of the main reasons for the expanded summer school in January is the new procedure that shortens summer vacations. Such cuts help students retain the knowledge learned better, as shorter breaks are the reasons why they forget more. Though practicing year-round has its advantages, it also comes with some disadvantages such as the family logistics' organizing issues and the potential conflicts with summer camps or jobs' normal operation. Additionally, a group of teachers argues that the long holidays might have a negative effect on the learning being in a continuous manner.
