Quadrant Assessment Model
The Quadrant Assessment Model is a strategic framework that is used to evaluate and categorize the various elements based on two key dimensions that are usually related to performance and importance. Organizations can make use of this model to prioritize initiatives, ensure wise allocation of resources and facilitate decision making by representing data in a four-quadrant format.
The Quadrant Assessment Model is essentially made up of two axes, which are the indicators of different criterions like performance and importance. The quadrants that are drawn by the axes would then be used to classify items into a total of four groups: high performance/high importance, high performance/low importance, low performance/high importance, and low performance/low importance. To illustrate this, let us consider the project management scenario, wherein a project, which is expedient to strategic objectives but performing below par, would be referred to as the 'low performance/high importance' quadrant, which would denote the necessity for prompt intervention.
